If you’re looking for some creative kids’ activities, you’ve come to the right place. Art is a great way to help your little artists express themselves, practice creative problem solving and develop their fine motor skills. Plus, it’s also just a lot of fun! Introduce your kids to abstract art with a scribble art project. All they need to do is scribble out some lines and then fill in the shapes with colour (or different patterns if they’re feeling super creative).

You can’t go wrong with sparkling art. Grab some glitter pens and coloured paper, or let the kids get a little bit messy with some glitter shakers and glue.

A family portrait is a fun project for kids and also makes a beautiful keepsake for parents – now that’s what we call a win-win.

If you really want to keep them busy, show your kids how to create a mixed media wax artwork. Start by drawing some patterns on watercolour paper with a candle, and then paint over it with watercolour paints. While the background is drying, draw or paint some pictures on another sheet of paper, cut them out and stick them onto the background.

Leaves, flowers and plants make a great subject for art projects. If your kids are on the younger side, draw up an outline of some plants and let them colour it in. Older kids might like to paint from memory or use a plant from the garden as a reference point.

It’s time to get a little bit messy! We recently had a bit of fun creating a painting using masking tape and our hands. All you need to do is create a pattern, word or image by sticking down masking tape on your canvas. Next, dip your hands in paint and print them all over the canvas. You might want to make a space outside for this one. Dilute some acrylic paints with water and let your kids run wild, dripping and splattering the paints on a big canvas. Watch our video tutorial for more tips.

If you’ve got some spare paper plates in the cupboard, get them out and let your kids turn them into a work of art. They might like to make masks, or a little masterpiece to hang on the fridge.
