Air dry clay coasters
1. Shape the coasters
- Cut a 500g packet of clay into four equal pieces
- Roll each piece into a round shape using the clay roller
- Use the 10cm circle template to refine the shape, cutting around the circles
with the clay knife tool
- Each coaster should be about 1cm thick
- Leave the coasters in place to prevent warping and let dry for 24-48 hours
2. Paint the base colour
- With a large flat brush, paint your coaster in a zesty shade - make all four citrus or leave two for other fruit designs
- For the citrus set we used: Lime – Pastel Chartreuse; Lemon – Pastel Lemon Yellow; Blood Orange – Pastel Blood Orange; Pink Grapefruit – Pastel Bubble Gum
- Let the paint dry
3. Citrus details
- Use the White Acrylic Paint Pen to draw a circle around the edge and mark the centre spot
- Sketch out the citrus segments and fill in the gaps between the segments and the outer circle
- Let dry, then apply a second coat for a bold finish
Option 2. Kiwi Fruit
- Colour in the edge with the Sienna paint pen
- Using the White paint pen, draw an oval centre and add lines radiating outward
- Add a second coat to make the white pop
- Dot on seeds with the Black paint pen
Option 3. Dragon Fruit
- Paint the rim Pastel Bubblegum Pink with a small round brush
- Use the Pink paint pen to define the inner line work
- Dot on the dragon fruit seeds with the Black paint pen
4. Add the final touches
- Once fully dry, apply a coat of clay sealer to your coasters with a large flat brush
